Rihanna pregnant with first child - NEWS.com.au

The singer and her boyfriend, A$AP Rocky, have revealed they’re expecting a baby together.

Rihanna is expecting her first child with boyfriend A$AP Rocky.

The Barbados-born singer, 33, revealed her baby bump in a series of images taken as she strolled around New York with her partner over the weekend – wearing an $8,000 pink Chanel coat, reports The Sun.

Despite the freezing weather, Rihanna ditched a top beneath the coat and instead wore a string of pearls and a jewelled cross necklace.

The star, whose hits include Shut Up and Drive and Diamonds, and the rapper, also 33, have known each other for almost a decade, but their relationship turned romantic in 2020.

They stopped to kiss and hug as they strolled hand-in-hand, with A$AP tenderly kissing her head at one point

Fans speculated she was pregnant in November of last year after she reportedly asked staff not to smoke around her when she attended Barbados’ first-ever presidential inauguration.

Some also claimed they had seen a baby bump.

But she shut down rumours the following month, when a fan tweeted her: “Can I come to the baby shower sis!? True or not your babies are going to be beautiful. Sorry everyone’s up in your uterus right now.”

She responded: “Ha! Stop! You ain’t came to the first 10 baby showers! Y’all breed me every year dammit lol.”

A$AP – real name Rakim Athelaston Mayers – confirmed his romance with Rihanna last year, describing her as “the love of [his] life.”

He said: “She amounts to probably, like, a million of the other ones. I think when you know, you know. She’s the one.”

The rapper added that his forthcoming record All Smiles was “absolutely influenced” by Rihanna.

In September of 2021, the couple made their red carpet debut at the Met Gala.

Fans also speculated she was pregnant then as she chose to wear a baggy outfit.

Speaking previously about her plans for motherhood, when asked where she envisions herself in a decade, she told British Vogue: “Ten years? I’ll be 42! I’ll be ancient. I’ll have kids – three or four of ’em.”

Rihanna has dated numerous high-profile men throughout the years.

From 2007 until 2009, Rihanna dated Chris Brown. The two broke up after an incident when Brown allegedly physically assaulted her.

The star went on to have an on-again, off-again relationship with rapper Drake, with the two seemingly ending on a bad note.

Rihanna briefly dated Travis Scott in 2015, but the romance fizzled out shortly after it began.

She dated Saudi businessman, Hassan Jameel, for three years before the couple split in January of 2020.

Cosby doco makes headlines before release - NEWS.com.au

A docuseries explores the comedian’s downfall and questions fans as they wrestle their feelings towards the TV legend after he was accused of sexual assault.

A new documentary series about Bill Cosby is making headlines before its premiere in the US.

We Need To Talk About Cosby explores the comedian’s descent from “America’s Dad” to alleged sexual predator. The program centres around the question of whether fans of The Cosby Show star can separate the art from the artist?

Director and comedian W. Kamau Bell discussed the four-part docuseries on PeopleTV’s entertainment news program People, available to stream on Flash.

“I think Bill Cosby wanted us to get confused with Heathcliff Huxtable,” the filmmaker told People.

“We don’t say Cliff Huxtable was America’s dad, we say Bill Cosby was America’s dad.

“And I think Bill Cosby was leading that confusion of blurring that line, we think because somebody does good work, but they must be a good person and that’s just proving more and more not to be true.”

Bell pointed out how the TV character’s occupation as an OBGYN turned his stomach.

“That is something that I always reckoned with when you remind people and this happened several times,” he said.

“There’s so many things when you look at Bill Cosby’s career that they’re breadcrumbs where he was sort of telling us to pay attention or be careful of what we’re seeing here.

“And that’s one of those. That’s a big bright room.”

Bell talked to actors, academics as well as fellow comedians but he also sits down with numerous women who say they were sexually assaulted by Bill Cosby.

A spokesperson for Cosby released a statement about the feature.

“Mr Cosby continues to be the target of numerous media that have for too many years distorted and omitted truths intentionally,” the statement reads.

“Despite media’s repetitive reports of allegations against Mr Cosby, none have ever been proven in any court of law.

“Mr Cosby vehemently denies all allegations waged against him. He wants our nation to be what it proclaims itself to be, a democracy.”

In 2018, Cosby was convicted on three counts of aggravated indecent assault. He served more than two years of a three- to 10-year sentence.

Last year, his conviction was overturned after the state Supreme Court found that an agreement with a previous prosecutor prevented him from being charged for allegedly drugging and molesting Andrea Constand in 2004.

The first episode of We Need To Talk About Cosby premieres this week on the US cable network Showtime. An Australian release has not yet been announced.

Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt's search to adopt son in new docu-series | news.com.au — Australia's leading news site - NEWS.com.au

A childless widower prince has adopted a 27-year-old man to carry on his lineage and inherit his estate.

Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt is desperate. Childless and 78 years old, he needs an heir to inherit his estate and care for him as he slides into dotage.

Plus his royal lineage, which, he maintains, traces back some 1000 years, would cease to exist without an heir.

So von Anhalt, the widower of actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, did something rash. He sought to adopt an adult son.

Having been married to a woman he describes as a prototype Kardashian — “She wasn’t famous for her movies; she was famous for the [nine] men she married,” he told the New York Post — it made sense that he would carry out his quest as publicly as possible.

On Adults Adopting Adults, a docu-series in the US, he is seen scouring social media and concocting plans that include trying to find a son in the Beverly Hills outpost of Gucci.

“I did it on television because I wanted to show lonely people that they do not need to be alone,” von Anhalt said.

“You can adopt a grown-up and have somebody who helps you from day one. You don’t have to raise a child.”

Prince Frederic von Anhalt was adopted himself, at age 35, Princess Marie Auguste of Germany.

Von Anhalt is no stranger to the mechanisms of adoption. In fact, that is precisely how he, a policeman’s son from a working-class family in Wallhausen, Germany, came to be Prince Frederic.

At age 35, in 1979, “I was adopted by the most well-known princess in Germany [Marie Auguste von Anhalt],” he said.

“I had played soccer with her grandson, and he moved to South America. I was the black sheep of my family. I was adopted by the daughter of the last emperor of Germany.”

The German monarchy was abolished in 1918; according to the prince, “The titles still exist but there is no more power to nobility.

“Right after getting adopted I went to a [garment] factory and bought a military dress uniform. I needed it. I was a prince and all the royal family members wear uniforms. That’s how it is.”

The adoption came with a title, but no money. “She received $500 per month from the German government,” von Anhalt said.

As part of the arrangement, he supplemented the princess with an additional 2,000 Deutsch marks per month, the then-equivalent of about $700 (A$1,001).

“She got a good deal,” said the prince, who owned a spa and sauna business at the time.

“She got the money and I got the title. Her children and grandchildren had titles as well.”

Von Anhalt came to Los Angeles on a lark, met Zsa Zsa Gabor while crashing a party hosted by writer Sidney Sheldon, and impressed the actress with his title as well as that splashy military uniform, which he had donned for the occasion. They married three years later.

The prince makes no bones about what the royal title means to him.

“I made a tool out of the title,” he told The Post.

“I would like to adopt somebody and give him the tool. In America, it works. People want to know who you are and that is how they judge you.”

Though the A & E show depicts von Anhalt as struggling to find a suitable adoptee and even saying that he is considering a rapper, the ideal candidate was right under his nose.

Feucht is the son of a friend of von Anhalt’s, but says his parents are “happy” about the adoption.

“I have known Frederic for seven years,” Kevin Feucht, 27, told The Post.

“I used to go to LA for weekends. My dad is a friend of Frederic and he told me that I could stay at Frederic’s house. Frederic and I agreed that if I help around the place, cook for him, work with him on the computer, make sure his bills get paid – I got some of them lowered – and cook for him sometimes, I can stay.”

When Feucht, who was born in Germany and educated at UC Santa Barbara, found out that Frederic was looking to adopt a son, he threw his hat into the ring.

“He loves his family but he is not going to stay with his family; he is going to stay with me,” said von Anhalt.

“He has a new birth certificate and I am his official father. His father and I are still friends. His mother and father are both fine with it.”

“My dad is happy about it. I love my parents and will always love them,” Feucht said.

And Von Anhalt insists that Feucht’s parents need not worry about their own elder care: “Kevin has a sister. She will take care of them.”

“Frederic is in a situation and at an age where he needs more and more help. Also, he built such a great career with Zsa Zsa,” said Feucht.

(According to the prince, his main career in America was being the husband of Gabor.)

“If nobody takes on the legacy, it all dies,” added Freucht, who is the founder of Skillers Academy, a soccer training centre in Munich.

“I offer a lot of knowledge. I am eager to build something big and make it bigger. I want to make a movie or do a book about Zsa Zsa. I want to keep the legacy alive.”

Frederic liked the idea right away. “It was not important that he be German, but Kevin speaks perfect English and German, and that is important,” said von Anhalt.

“He’s a nice guy, intelligent, clean, he works hard. Zsa Zsa opened all the doors for me and now I will do the same for Kevin. Elon Musk is my neighbour. He sees me and says, ‘Hello, Prince.’”

Von Anhalt hopes that this adoption goes smoother than the five previous ones he’s made — all of them while married to Gabor.

“They left. One guy went to Dubai and showed off,” said the prince, adding that another used the title to promote a chain of strip clubs in Germany.

“What am I supposed to do? Once they had the title, they took off. Zsa Zsa said you have to marry a lot of guys until you find the right guy. I think it is the same thing with adopting.”

He told The Post that his “sons” paid for the titles and still retain them.

Von Anhalt said he is not worried about them trying to claim his inheritance.

“I am doing all the right things [to protect the inheritance] while I am alive. But after I die, I don’t give a damn. For now, though, I just hope Kevin will work out. He’s different from the others — he has a brain — but you never know.”

Von Anhalt has also used his title to confer knighthoods that he sold for $50,000 to $100,000 ($A71,000 to $143,000) each.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, he admitted to making more than $10 million ($A14.3 million) through these services.

“I never counted the money,” he told The Post, adding that the cash went as easily as it came. “I had an expensive wife and also an expensive life.”

Feucht figures he’ll spend half of each year in the United States with the prince and likens their give-and-take relationship to the one depicted in the movie The Upside, in which Bryan Cranston plays a paraplegic looked after by a wisecracking ex-con portrayed by Kevin Hart.

The adoptee said that no money formally changed hands between him and von Anhalt, and the show depicts it as a completely legal adoption.

“I would not call this a deal,” Feucht said.

“I stayed at Frederic’s apartment and helped him. There was no money involved and that was how we kept it. I have my own money. But sometimes, when I go out, he’ll give me $US500 so I can buy dinner. Beverly Hills is expensive!”

Beyond the pin money, Feucht’s big pay-off will come when von Anhalt dies and bequeaths him the Gabor family stake.

“I inherited money from all the sisters [Magda and ‘Green Acres’ star Eva]. It all went to Zsa Zsa and now I am the only one left,” von Anhalt told The Post.

“When I was with Zsa Zsa and her family, it was a 24-hour job.”

In 2013, he and Gabor sold their home, which had been listed for $14.9 million ($US 21.3 million).

As to what Feucht will do with the money after the prince passes away, that remains up in the air.

“I will definitely do everything I need to do to keep up the legacy of Zsa Zsa Gabor,” he said. “Maybe I will use the money to build a statue or make a movie. Frederic wants me to keep the money in the family and to make it useful, not to use it for material things. And there are a lot of name rights in the trust. If you want to make a movie about Zsa Zsa, you need the rights.”

Von Anhalt, meanwhile, is anticipating the kind of elder care that only kin can provide.

In the series, Feucht is seen cooking for his new “dad” and generally keeping him company.

“Kevin goes to the gym with me and we walk 5 miles. I have no job and I have lots of time,” von Anhalt said.

“He helps me in the house and drives my Mercedes G Wagon. I take care of him, but when I get sick he will take care of me.”

Thus far, Feucht has found the princely life to be pretty cool. Though he has not taken a cue from von Anhalt and used the title to land a celebrity girlfriend — “You want the girl to be loyal and not in it for money,” Freucht said — he has tried on the military uniform that is now his birthright.

“It looks amazing,” he said. “It fits me like Cinderella’s shoe.”

Harry and Meghan voice concern over COVID-19 misinformation on Spotify - ABC News

Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, who have a series of deals to produce podcasts for Spotify, have expressed concerns about COVID-19 misinformation on the streaming platform.

Singer-songwriters Neil Young and Joni Mitchell are removing their music from Spotify in protest against the popular streaming service allowing the airing of misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines.

The duke and duchess signed a series of corporate deals, including to produce and host podcasts for Spotify, as part of their efforts to make a living following their 2020 decision to step back from the royal family.

"Hundreds of millions of people are affected by the serious harms of rampant mis- and disinformation every day," a spokesperson for their Archewell foundation said on Sunday.

"Last April, our co-founders began expressing concerns to our partners at Spotify about the all-too-real consequences of COVID-19 misinformation on its platform.

"We have continued to express our concerns to Spotify to ensure changes to its platform are made to help address this public health crisis.

"We look to Spotify to meet this moment and are committed to continuing our work together as it does."

Contacted by Reuters on Sunday, Spotify had no immediate comment.

The Swedish company has previously said it works to balance "both safety for listeners and freedom for creators" and has removed more than 20,000 podcast episodes related to COVID-19 in accordance with its "detailed content policies".

Young objected to his music being played on the same platform as Joe Rogan's top-rated podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.

Other artists to remove their music from the platform in solidary with Young include Nils Lofgren, from Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band and Crazy Horse.

Rogan has stirred controversy with his views on the pandemic, government mandates and vaccines to control the spread of the coronavirus.

Earlier this month, 270 scientists and medical professionals signed a letter urging Spotify to take action against Rogan, accusing him of spreading falsehoods through his podcast.

Singer James Blunt jokes he’ll release new music as he joins Spotify boycott - PerthNow

Singer and funny man James Blunt has joined the boycott against Spotify and its promotion of the Joe Rogan podcast.

Blunt united with stars Joni Mitchell and Neil Young, who have demanded that Spotify take down their songs unless episodes of the podcast they consider to contain anti-vax sentiment are removed.

Blunt’s Twitter post, though, took a lighter tone, with the songwriter threatening to release more music in protest.

“If @Spotify doesn’t immediately remove @JoeRogan, I will release new music onto the platform. #youwerebeautiful,” he tweeted.

This isn’t the first time Blunt has poked fun at his music as the 47-year-old has a long history of making jokes at his own expense.

In a reaction to a tweet stating “can we all take a moment and remember how terrible James Blunt was”, he quipped “No need. I have an album coming out soon”.

Another one was in response to a tweet that said: “James Blunt had his 15 minutes of fame and disappeared”. He replied: “Even less than that! The song was only three minutes and thirty seconds long”.

While Blunt’s music remains on Spotify, with no new tunes released as yet, Mitchell’s and Young’s has been removed.

Popular podcaster Brene Brown also announced she would not be producing episodes until further notice.

Joe Rogan struck a $135 million deal with Spotify in 2020 and has been very vocal about his anti-vax views.

The 54-year-old made headlines late last year for an embarrassing blunder in which he slammed Australia’s COVID-19 response based on a fake ad.

Rogan, who was diagnosed with COVID-19 in September last year, used the video to renew his criticism of Australia, labelling it a ‘police state’.

“Not only has Australia had the worst reaction to the pandemic with dystopian, police-state measures that are truly inconceivable to the rest of the civilized world, but they also have the absolute dumbest propaganda,” Rogan, who is also UFC commentator, wrote.

Jason Momoa gushes over ex’s daughter - NEWS.com.au

Jason Momoa and Zoe Kravitz have signalled they’re still close in a sweet Instagram exchange, weeks after he announced his split from Lisa Bonet.

News of Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet’s split shocked the internet earlier this month.

But the actor has signalled he remains close with Zoe Kravitz, Bonet’s daughter from her previous marriage to Lenny Kravitz, in a sweet exchange on Instagram.

The 42-year-old Game of Thrones and Aquaman star shared a post promoting his stepdaughter’s upcoming film The Batman, in which she plays Catwoman.

Regramming the film’s poster, Momoa wrote: “so proud. can’t wait. march 4th love u zozo.”

“i love youuuuuuuuuu @prideofgypsies,” the 33-year-old actor and musician commented in response.

When she was cast in the role in 2019, Momoa told Entertainment Tonight it was “perfect casting”.

“It’s perfect. She’s gonna kill it,” he said at the time.

During a 2020 interview with Men’s Health, Momoa opened up about the love he felt for Kravitz, her then-husband Karl Glusman, and her father, who he’s previously described as a “brother”.

“I love her husband. I love her dad. I hope and pray my daughter is that talented and loving and open and close to her family,” he said.

On January 12, Momoa and Bonet, 54, revealed in a joint statement that they were “parting ways in marriage” after 16 years together.

The actors, who share daughter Lola and son Nakoa-Wolf, secretly married in 2017 after meeting at a jazz club in 2005.

In the statement, which Momoa has since deleted from his Instagram, the former couple noted that they “have felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times”.

“A revolution is unfolding and our family is of no exception … feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring. And so We share our Family news That we are parting ways in marriage,” the statement read.

“We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy … But so that as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty. The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived.

“We free each other to be who we are learning to become … Our devotion unwavering to this sacred life & our Children. Teaching our Children What’s possible ~ Living the Prayer May Love Prevail. J & L.”

As for why the couple split, a well-placed insider told People it had been a long time coming.

The source said that Bonet had “no interest in joining” her husband on location when he needed to travel for roles. The pair also hadn’t been seen together in public for almost two years.

According to the insider, the split “didn’t happen overnight”, explaining that things had been “amazing” between the couple for years until they hit a snag.

“They have grown apart because of different focuses,” the source said, adding that The Cosby Show star was happy with her life in LA while Momoa wanted to focus on his career, which takes him around the world.

“A few years ago, Jason was struggling to find work. Now his career is booming. And he wants to keep working as much as he can,” they said.

“For some people, [distance] might strengthen their marriage. For Lisa and Jason’s marriage, being apart was a disaster.”

According to Entertainment Tonight, the issues worsened while Momoa was filming Aquaman 2.

“When Jason was away filming Aquaman 2, their differences and issues were heightened,” a source told ET.

“He was gone for a while and it definitely put additional stress on their relationship.”

Bonet had also hinted she was going through a major life change in an interview weeks earlier.

Speaking to Marisa Tomei for Interview magazine in December, Bonet said she was “learning how to be authentically me, learning to be new, and following this invitation from the universe to step into this river of uncertainty”.

“We’ve eliminated all this extra noise, and now it’s time to grow our roots deeper into our own values,” she added.

Mystery still shrouds missing princess - NEWS.com.au

More than ten years after allegedly trying to run away from her own wedding, Princess Charlene of Monaco is once again missing.

The British royal family might get all the attention as a 1000-year-old institution, but the house of Grimaldi can give them a serious run for the historic stakes. In 1297, Francesco Grimaldi, a member of a wealthy Genoese merchant family, claimed the Rock of Monaco, a tiny sliver of land on the Mediterranean, and to this day, his descendants rule over the minute but obscenely wealthy city-state.

While it might be the house of Windsor and their various travails that hog the headlines but to the east, their royal counterparts are also in the midst of an ongoing crisis and PR disaster with a princess having gone missing from public life in a swirl of controversy and drama.

Yesterday, ruler Prince Albert appeared in the window of the palace, as per usual, to mark the festival of the patron saint of the city, along with his adorable twins Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques (the latter who will succeed his father). But there by his side wasn’t the prince’s wife of ten years Princess Charlene but his sister Princess Caroline.

On January 25, Charlene, a former Olympic swimmer-turned-royal marked her 44th birthday yet there was no sign of her in Monte Carlo or with her family. Rather, the princess has essentially disappeared, having not been seen in nearly 90 days.

Late last year, 61-year-old Albert confirmed to People that she is currently in a treatment facility, somewhere outside of the microstate, but mystery still surrounds the events of the last year which has seen speculation about mental breakdown, marriage collapse, love children and plastic surgery reach a crescendo.

So, just what the hell has been going on?

Happily-ever-after?

The story of Charlene Wittstock, alleged reluctant royal, really begins in 2000 when the swimming champion pitched up in Monte Carlo for a charity event. There she met Albert, a notorious playboy and a man badly in need of a wife.

Over the course of the next ten years, their relationship progressed, with the couple announcing their engagement in 2010.

However, things started to go off the rails only weeks before the reported $100 million wedding when the French publication Journal du Dimanche alleged that the bride had made multiple attempts to flee, including supposedly seeking refuge in her native South African embassy in Paris where she had her passport taken away and then the following month making a break for the airport in nearby Nice during the city’s Formula One Grand Prix.

The couple denied the reports but the events that followed hardly did much to dissuade people of the notion of a princess trapped in a gilded cage.

Infamously, Charlene cried on their wedding day, with much debate about whether they were tears of joy.

As she settled into royal life, all the waving and charity-doing, things didn’t particularly improve with the newly minted Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene often looking dour and miserable.

Behind the closed doors of the Palais Princier, things were reportedly even worse. One source recently told the Daily Beast about an “extremely uncomfortable” lunch with Albert and Charlene during which she “quietly sobbed her way through the entire meal”.

“Albert didn’t acknowledge his wife was crying at all,” the source said. “I couldn’t understand why she didn’t just get up and leave. I could only assume she wanted her unhappiness to be seen.”

While over in the UK the other new royal wife, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, was charming the pants off her new subjects, in wealthy Monaco, the princess was reportedly greeted with abject snobbery and years of being cold-shouldered in local society.

Her new life might have been glittering, but it was “challenging, painful and solitary,” according to Tatler.

“The people I mixed with in Monaco didn’t relate to my South African mentality or humour,” Charlene admitted in an interview with the society bible. “Although I have met some wonderful people since I’ve been living in Monaco, I regard them all as acquaintances. I only have two people I consider friends here.”

When it was revealed she was pregnant in 2017, one Monacan (yep, really) described Charlene to the Daily Beast as “common as muck” but that “at least she has proved herself capable of reproducing”.

One resident also commented at the time: “A lot of people are hoping she will just stop the plastic surgery now she is finally pregnant.”

“She does not expect to be suddenly warmly welcomed into Monaco society, but she does think that after giving birth – especially if it’s a son — she will be more free to go off and do her own thing,” a member of the European society circuit said at the time. “She has made little secret of the fact she would rather be back in South Africa, or London, or Paris, or anywhere but Monaco.”

More recently, the Times reported last year that she had “lost the trust” of her supposed subjects.

The love child ‘hoax’

Albert, in his single days, was a renowned playboy and has long admitted to fathering, and has supported, two children from previous brief relationships. However, in November 2020, a Brazilian woman living in Italy, whose identity has been kept under wraps, went to court alleging that the royal had fathered her daughter in 2005, that is, at the same time he was dating Charlene.

Lawyers for Albert dubbed the claims a “hoax” and just over two months later on January 26, he and his wife attended an official event together.

Still, days later Charlene attended an official event revealed a dramatic new punk hairstyle with one side of her head shaved.

And then this is where things start to get really murky.

On March 18, she was photographed in South Africa at the memorial for the late Zulu monarch, King Goodwill Zwelithini. A few weeks later, to mark Easter, she posted a photo to her Instagram account showing her painting eggs with her husband and children but there was no indication given when and where the shot was taken.

May and June were red letter months on the Monte Carlo social calendar with the 2.1 square metre mini-nation hosting the Grand Prix and the annual Red Cross ball. Albert attended both alone.

It was only on June 24 that official word came, and from her Princess Charlene Foundation rather than the palace, explaining her extended absence, saying she was suffering an acute ear, nose and throat infection that prevented her from flying.

On July 2, which was the royal duo’s tenth wedding anniversary, the couple was 12,000km apart with Charlene saying that not being with her husband on the day was “difficult” and “saddens me”.

But nothing changed: Charlene remained in South Africa while Albert continued with his duties as sovereign, appearing at the Monte Carlo show jumping event (the Olympics of the horsey set) and then the actual Olympics in Tokyo.

By now, speculation had reached fever pitch in Monaco and neighbouring France that something was very wrong with the royal marriage. Journalist Stéphane Bern, France’s best informed royal commentator, alleged that even before her African trip, she had spent little time in the palace, opting instead for a modest two-bedroom flat that belonged to her sister-in-law Princess Caroline and which was 300 metres away from her official residence.

“We often saw her outside the Palace and she would usually be alone or with a bodyguard,” a source told the Daily Mail, “but she was never with Albert – it was obvious she chose to spend most of her time in the apartment rather than the palace.”

Bern also pointed out that it had not just been Albert at the May Red Cross Ball but that Nicole Coste, a former air hostess and mother of one of his illegitimate children, had also attended.

‘Nearly died’

In August, the princess underwent a four-hour operation and later the same month, Albert, Jacques and Gabriella arrived in South Africa. The photos of the reunion posted by her only amped up the rumour mill, with a shot of her very awkwardly hugging Albert doing nothing to dispel the growing speculation that their marriage had unravelled once and for all.

Then in early September, Charlene collapsed, was rushed to hospital and “almost died,” according to a later report in Page Six.

“It is unfair that she is being portrayed as having some kind of mental or emotional issue,” a source has said. “We don’t know why the palace is downplaying that she almost died in South Africa.

“She has not been able to eat solid food in over six months because of all the surgeries she has since gone through. She has only been able to take in liquids through a straw, so she lost nearly half her body weight.”

(Her sister Chantall later denied the claim, saying “this is simply not true” but that “she had difficulty eating after all the procedures and so yes, she lost a lot of weight, but it was because she could only have soft foods and liquids.”)

In October, the mother-of-two shared a photo of herself wearing a rosary and reading the bible captioned “God bless” and looked increasingly gaunt, and it would only be in November that she would finally return to Monaco, nearly a year after leaving.

She would not be back on Monegasque soil for long.

‘Clear she was unwell’

On November 8 Charlene returned, with her again taking to Instagram to celebrate the “happy day”, however, as Albert later explained, things “went pretty well in the first few hours, and then it became pretty evident that she was unwell”.

It was around then that Albert staged what the Daily Mail has called an “intervention” with her brothers and sister-in-law and it was later revealed that the mutual decision had been made for her to receive treatment in an undisclosed facility for what he has termed “exhaustion, both emotional and physical”.

“She was very calm and very understanding. She realised herself that she needed help. You can’t force anyone to understand that they need treatment, they have to accept that themselves,” Albert told People late last year.

“This has nothing to do with our relationship. I want to make that very clear,” he said. “It’s not a personal relationship issue. And if you want to discuss another speculation, it isn’t related to plastic surgery or facial work at all.

“I can say she was suffering incredible fatigue. She hadn’t slept well in a number of days and she wasn’t eating at all well. She has lost a lot of weight, which made her vulnerable to other potential ailments. A cold or the flu or God help us, Covid.”

Her sister Chantall told You magazine: “She had a lot of procedures in a short space of time. She was under a lot of stress at the time. It was extremely traumatic for her to go through all the pain, procedures, and scrutiny from the media while being away from her family and children. She missed them terribly and it wasn’t easy for her.”

Appearing in the window of the 12th century palace alongside Albert for the National Day on November 19 were little Gabriella and Jacques holding handmade signs reading “We miss you Mommy” and “We love you Mommy.”

Game of thrones

On Thursday, Albert attended the Sainte-Devote church ceremony, the first anniversary of Charlene’s last official appearance. The twins, in co-ordinating navy and red, waved and smiled to the crowds, with their aunt Princess Caroline stepping in as de facto first lady.

One intriguing theory has suggested that the 65-year-old royal herself might have a part to play in this sorry tale.

In 2017, the Daily Beast reported that “part of the problem” was the thrice-married Caroline is widely thought would like to see her eldest son, Andrea, as the next occupant of the Monaco throne and that she had, in the early years, “done little to help Charlene settle in”.

The question is, will Charlene ever return to royal life? While in the UK Prince William and his wife Kate are the picture of the perfect double act, in the French Riviera enclave, which Somerset Maugham famously called “a sunny place for shady people,” there are no guarantees they will ever get their princess back.

Joni Mitchell to remove songs from Spotify in solidarity with Neil Young's stance against Joe Rogan's COVID 'misinformation' - ABC News

Singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell says she will remove her catalogue from Spotify in solidarity with fellow Canadian musical artist Neil Young's stance against COVID "misinformation" on the streaming service.

The nine-time Grammy award winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee announced her decision to remove her music from Spotify in a statement posted to her official website.

Mitchell cited Young's stance as a motivating factor behind her decision, as well as a letter from 270 scientific and medical experts calling for Spotify to implement a misinformation policy in response to contentious claims aired by Dr Robert Malone on an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience.

"I’ve decided to remove all my music from Spotify," Mitchell's statement said.

As of Saturday afternoon, Mitchell's music was still available on the streaming platform in Australia

Mitchell's announcement comes after Young's music was removed from Spotify in response to a letter the musician addressed to his manager and record label demanding the streaming service no longer carry his music because, he said, Rogan had spread misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines.

"They can have Rogan or Young. Not both," Young wrote.

The only Young songs now available on Spotify appear on compilation albums, while full albums of his former bands — including Crazy Horse; Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young; and Buffalo Springfield — remain available to stream.

World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has praised the musician's stance in a tweet thanking him for "standing up against misinformation and inaccuracies around COVID-19 vaccination".

Rogan's podcast is exclusively aired on Spotify after the former actor and TV host signed a deal believed to be worth more than $US100 million in 2020.

Drew Barrymore reveals ‘open relationship’ - NEWS.com.au

The US actress turned TV talk host has stunned viewers with a revelation she had an “open relationship” with actor Luke Wilson.

Drew Barrymore is giving fans a peek into her past love life.

The now 46-year-old actress has been a part of showbiz since she was a child and has been known to share some of her wilder memories on her talk show when she reminisces with other stars she’s known for decades.

During Thursday‘s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the star chatted with fellow US actress Kate Hudson, another former child star, about their “young and wild” days together in the early 2000s.

“When we first met, we were young and wild,” Barrymore said as she and Hudson, 42, pieced together that they first met at a restaurant called Chez Jay in Santa Monica, California. US actor Luke Wilson was also present, both actresses recalled.

“You were doing Alex & Emma together, I think,” Barry said of the 2003 rom-com starring Hudson and Wilson, who is now 50. “And I was dating him, but I think he was also dating other people.”

Barrymore explained that they shared “an open relationship.”

“We were young,” she added.

Barrymore isn’t the only one to have had such an experience, as Hudson added: “I’ve been there with a Wilson, too.”

According to Page Six, Barrymore and Wilson dated beginning in the late 1990s, while Hudson dated the actor’s brother Owen Wilson after they met in 2006 while filming You, Me and Dupree.

Reps for Luke did not immediately respond to request for comment.

“It‘s so fun because when you’re young, you’re like, ‘It’s low-stakes,’ we’re just young, we’re having fun, we’re all playing, acting, hanging out,’” explained Barrymore. She said that while they weren’t taking anything ”seriously” at the time, she and Hudson “had the best time” together.

“We did. We had the best time,” Hudson said, recalling that she was also a fan of Barrymore.

“I used to get people saying, ‘Oh, you kind of look like Drew Barrymore.‘’Which is why I ended up doing you on ‘SNL’ as well. They were like, ‘Can you do Drew Barrymore?’ and I was like, ‘I don’t think so.’”

In 2000, Hudson appeared on the sketch comedy show, at one point playing Barrymore in a spoof of an “Inside the Actor’s Studio” interview.

Real reason for musician’s Rogan ultimatum - NEWS.com.au

Yesterday, a music legend told Spotify it could either have him or controversial podcaster Joe Rogan – not both. We now know exactly why.

Yesterday, a music legend told Spotify it could either have him or controversial podcaster Joe Rogan – not both. We now know exactly why.

Neil Young told the music streaming giant he did not want to be associated with the platform if it continued to provide access to Rogan’s content. Spotify chose Rogan.

“I want you to let Spotify know immediately TODAY that I want all my music off their platform,” Young wrote to his manager.

“I am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines, potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them,” he said in reference to Rogan’s podcast.

“Please act on this immediately today and keep me informed of the time schedule.

“With an estimated 11 million listeners per episode, JRE, which is hosted exclusively by Spotify, is the world’s largest podcast and has tremendous influence.

“Spotify has a responsibility to mitigate the spread of misinformation on its platform, though the company presently has no misinformation policy.

“They can have Rogan or Young. Not both.”

Spotify almost immediately said goodbye to the musician and that it regretted the development and hoped to “welcome him back soon”.

“We want all the world’s music and audio content to be available to Spotify users,” it said in a statement.

“With that comes great responsibility in balancing both safety for listeners and freedom for creators. We have detailed content policies in place and we’ve removed over 20,000 podcast episodes related to Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.”

On Friday, New Zealand-based news director Anna Loren added some much needed context to the story, revealing why vaccines were so important to the music legend.

“The thing … the thing about Neil Young is that he contracted polio as a child in the ‘50s, years before a vaccine was available,” she wrote on Twitter.

“After being released from hospital, he had to relearn how to walk. Polio left him permanently disabled, contributed to a serious anxiety disorder and affects his life to this day.

“Neil also has epilepsy, as does his daughter. His two sons have cerebral palsy. He wrote a whole album, Trans, as a way to communicate with one of them. He & his wife also founded a nonprofit, The Bridge School, for kids w severe disabilities.

“Every year Neil organises a benefit concert for The Bridge School. David Bowie has performed! So have The Beach Boys, Elton John, Metallica, Pearl Jam and the Smashing Pumpkins.

“All of this is to say, if you’re looking for a celeb who knows about the importance of vaccines and who is well-educated in the sphere of health and disability, you can’t do much better than Neil Young.

“I guess Rogan’s fans are louder and angrier and spend more money, and I guess that’s how decisions about the spread of misinformation get made. Our world is poorer for that.”

Young stressed that his fans could still find his music on other platforms, including Amazon, Apple and Qobuz.

And he called on other artists to follow his lead.

“I truly want to thank the many, many people who have reached out to me thanking me for taking this position – people who are health professionals on the front lines, people who have lost loved ones to Covid or who are worried for their own children and families. I have never felt so much love coming from so many,” said Young.

“I sincerely hope that other artists and record companies will move off the Spotify platform and stop supporting Spotify’s deadly misinformation about Covid.”

Jeopardy question champion couldn’t answer - NEWS.com.au

Amy Schneider — who went on an epic winning streak on Jeopardy! — has finally be stumped with a tricky question.

Amy Schneider’s “Jeopardy!” winning streak has finally come to an end.

Last week, the 42-year-old made history when she won her 39th game and became No. 2 on the game show’s consecutive wins list — and the winningest woman.

But her time at the top ended Wednesday when she lost to Rhone Talsma, a librarian from Chicago, the New York Post reports.

Talsma scored $29,600 while Schneider finished in second place with $19,600.

Talsma was sitting pretty after he hit a Daily Double late in the Double Jeopardy! round and answered correctly. As she headed into the Final Jeopardy! round, Schneider led with a score of $27,600, while Talsma had $17,600.

The Final Jeopardy! category was “Countries of the World.” The answer read, “The only nation in the world whose name in English ends with an ‘H’ and is also one of the 10 most populous.” The question was: “What is Bangladesh?”

While Talsma answered promptly, Schneider didn’t respond.

“I had thought that Rhone was going to be tough going into it,” Schneider said in a statement. “I loved hanging out with him, we had great conversation before the taping, but I could tell that he was here to play and that he was going to be good.”

She continued, “I still came very close to winning, but I did feel like maybe I was slipping a little bit. And once it was clear that he was fast on the buzzer, I knew it was going to be a battle all the way.”

Schneider trails only Ken Jennings (74 wins) on the long-running game show’s consecutive wins list.

Her $1,382,800 left her in fourth place among the show’s top earners, just behind fan-favorites Matt Amodio ($1,518,601), James Holzhauer ($2,462,216), and Jennings ($2,520,700).

“It’s really been an honour,” Schneider added. “To know that I’m one of the most successful people at a game I’ve loved since I was a kid and to know that I’m a part of its history now, I just don’t know how to process it.”

But fans will still get to see Schneider on-screen again when she returns for the Tournament of Champions series later this fall. Talsma will face two new players on the show come Thursday.

Talsma noted, “I’m still in shock. This is my favourite show … I was so excited to be here and I just wanted to do my best. I did not expect to be facing a 40-day champion, and I was excited to maybe see someone else slay the giant. I just really didn’t think it was going to be me, so I’m thrilled.”

Mighty Ducks star reveals drastic change - NEWS.com.au

Former child actor has turned his life around – celebrating two years of sobriety after overcoming a meth addiction.

The Mighty Ducks star Shaun Weiss has reached another milestone in his battle against methamphetamine addiction, celebrating two years of sobriety.

His close pal Drew Gallagher took to Instagram to share how proud he was of Weiss for staying committed to his sobriety, posting side-by-side photos of what the 43-year-old actor looked like in 2020 versus today, Page Six reports.

The former child actor was seen looking gaunt and dishevelled in the first picture, whereas the second photo showed him looking much healthier and fuller in the face.

Weiss himself shared the same photos to his own Instagram account along with a message to others who may be struggling with their sobriety.

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with 12 amazing steps,” his post stated, referring to the tried-and-true 12-step recovery program.

Weiss, who played goalie Greg Goldberg in the hit Mighty Ducks franchise, celebrated by getting takeout from Brent’s Deli, the same Los Angeles restaurant he visited after being released from jail in 2017, TMZ reported on Thursday.

Gallagher was supposed to join Weiss at the deli to help him celebrate, but Weiss was reportedly feeling under the weather and opted to get his matzo ball soup to go.

As Page Six reported, the Heavy Weights actor marked his first year of sobriety in January 2021.

Gallagher confirmed at the time that Weiss was residing in a sober living facility in California.

To celebrate at the time, Weiss received new teeth from Dr Gabe Rosenthal, who told Page Six he was giving the star the full dental treatment for free because his meth addiction had destroyed his smile and he wanted to see Weiss flourish.

The process normally costs around $US80,000 ($A113,750).

Before sobering up, the Disney alum was arrested in January 2020 for breaking into a man’s home while high on meth.

Weiss was previously busted for public intoxication in August 2018, with his mugshot at the time sending shockwaves across the internet.

And a year prior, he was sentenced to 90 days in county jail for possession of suspected meth as well as 150 days behind bars for stealing $US151 ($A214) worth of merchandise from an electronics store.

His rep told us at the time, “He has hit his bottom. Hopefully, he will stay clean and sober when he gets out.”

Gallagher has stayed by Weiss’ side throughout the lows, starting a GoFundMe page for his friend and pledging to not give up on him.

“He’s sick, he’s mentally ill. … Everybody gives up on him,” Gallagher told People in January 2020, adding, “He’s like a brother to me. I won’t abandon him.”

Weiss’ rep did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

In a statement, NSW Police alleged: "A verbal argument ensued between the pair, before the man allegedly assaulted the woman – grabbing her by the throat, pushing her to the ground and punching her.

Spotify removing Neil Young's music after Joe Rogan COVID ultimatum - ABC News

Neil Young's music is being removed from Spotify's streaming service after the singer-songwriter objected to his songs playing on the same platform that offers Joe Rogan's podcast.

Earlier this week, Young published a letter addressed to his manager and record label, Warner Music Group , accusing Rogan of spreading misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines, and demanding that Spotify no longer carry his music.

On Wednesday, the veteran rocker thanked his record label for "standing with me in my decision to pull all my music from Spotify," and encouraged other musicians to do the same.

"Spotify has become the home of life-threatening COVID misinformation," he said on his website.

"I realised I could not continue to support Spotify's life-threatening misinformation to the music-loving people."

Spotify said it worked to balance "both safety for listeners and freedom for creators" and had removed more than 20,000 podcast episodes related to COVID-19 in accordance with its "detailed content policies."

Rogan, 54, is the host of The Joe Rogan Experience, the top-rated podcast on Spotify, which holds exclusive rights to the program.

He has stirred controversy with his views on the pandemic, government mandates and vaccines to control the spread of the coronavirus.

Earlier this month, 270 scientists and medical professionals signed a letter urging Spotify to take action against Rogan, accusing him of spreading falsehoods on the podcast.

Young's Spotify page sees more than 6 million monthly listeners, which the 76-year-old said accounted for 60 per cent of the streaming of his music to listeners around the world.

"The removal is a huge loss for my record company to absorb," he said.
