‘Lover’ will be the first album that Taylor Swift owns

Fans of Taylor Swift can’t calm down. With 18 songs, Lover is Taylor Swift lengthiest album to date. The artist traded dark themes for a bright rainbow of colors, showcased in songs like “Me.” Of course, some fans noticed how far of a departure this album is from her last full-length record, Reputation. During an interview with Vogue Magazine, Taylor Swift discussed the important place in her career that this album holds.

“There are so many ways in which this album feels like a new beginning. This album is really a love letter to love, in all of its maddening, passionate, exciting, enchanting, horrific, tragic, wonderful glory,” Swift said.

Due to her feud with Scooter Braun, the artist no longer has the rights to all of her old music. But don’t worry. During an interview with Good Morning America, the artist confirmed that she will re-record her older albums. As for now, Lover is the only album owned by Taylor Swift herself.

Taylor Swift’s ‘Lover’ is breaking personal records for the artist

In addition to singles like “Me” and “You Need To Calm Down,” Taylor Swift’s album as a whole broke records for the artist. She tallied up millions of pre-sold albums at retailers, beating old albums like Reputation.

According to a press release, Lover “smashed the all-time pre-sale record at Target and eclipsed debut physical sales of Reputation. In addition, the album has hit #1 in 98 countries on iTunes. On the Spotify U.S. chart, every song debuted in the top 25 with 9 in the top 10. Lover also broke the global record as the ‘top album debut in the history of Amazon Music.'”

Taylor Swift’s ‘Lover’ is rivaling other popular albums of 2019, including Ariana Grande’s ‘Thank U, Next’

Taylor Swift is breaking personal records and even the records of other artists. As far as 2019 goes, Lover is surpassing the number of streams of albums by artists like The Jonas Brothers and almost topping Ariana Grande’s hit album, Thank U, Next.

According to Billboard, Lover’s streaming start of “175,000 SEA units, which equates to 226 million on-demand audio streams for its songs during the tracking week, the album notches the second-biggest streaming week ever for an album by a woman, the second-largest for a pop album, and the second-biggest of any album in 2019. In all three metrics, Lover was only beat by the debut week of Ariana Grande’s Thank U, Next, which entered with 228,000 SEA units (equaling 307 million on-demand audio streams).”

Even Taylor Swift’s music videos are breaking boundaries, each earning millions of plays on YouTube. Videos for songs like “You Need To Calm Down” and “Me!” earned multiple nominations and awards at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. The artist even won the award for Video of the Year for “You Need To Calm Down.”

Taylor Swift’s Lover is available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, and most major music platforms.
